PA Farm Show Complex

Harrisburg, PA
Cast Stone Institute 2024 MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE Award Winner

This restoration project is a replication of an existing 44′ long x 8′ high set of decorative relief panels on the PA Farm Show Complex. The North and South elevations shared identical panels, but the North side deteriorated. The South panels were 3-D laser scanned and then full-scale 3D positives milled by CNC out of high-density urethane foam. This allowed us to capture the original elements precisely. Afterwards, we created custom rubber molds and cast the new cast stone panels. Accordingly, the molding process also required fabricating custom fit mold sides that correspond to the irregular panel shapes.

Creating a mold that was durable enough to withstand the casting process, but yet flexible enough to replicate the very ornate three-dimensional artwork of the existing panels. These 8′ tall panels required over 400 gallons of liquid rubber to complete the molds.

The end product – a perfectly restored panel wall. The detail is astounding! Check out the distinction of the turkey’s feathers, the texture of the sheep’s wool, or the detail of faces and buildings. At Sun Precast, we are proud to have been part of this incredible restoration.
