Certified Plant
by both the Cast Stone Institute (CSI) and the Architectural Precast Association (APA)
What Does ‘Plant Certified’ Mean?
Sun Precast Company, Inc. is both CSI and APA certified. Cast Stone Institute manufacturers must pass a rigorous 86-step plant certification. This includes Product Quality Control (Compressive Strength and Absorption), Safety (OSHA Compliant), Product Consistency (Checked for Dimension, Color, Texture, and Tolerances), and Recordkeeping Housekeeping. Recertification is required every two years to ensure producers maintain the high standards set by the Institute.
Similarly, the Architectural Precast Association certifies and inspects plants to ensure they have the people, equipment and processes to produce the highest quality architectural precast concrete. As part of that process, the APA tests and certifies batch plant operators and quality control personnel. Once certified, they must also meet continuing education requirements. APA recertification is required every six months.
Why Does It Matter?
Certification provides the customer with confidence that we have the processes, procedures, and trained personnel in place to deliver quality product that stands the test of time. Also, that we will stand behind our product with warranty. As the old saying goes, “You get what you pay for”; accordingly, with certification comes assurance of high value for your dollar.
